QUESTIONS

What does the booking process look like?

I try to make the booking process as simple as possible.

  1. Enquire using my contact form.

  2. I’ll get back to you with a quote and ask to arrange a Zoom call or phone call (whichever works best for you) to talk through your wedding day. This also gives you the chance to ask me any questions you may have.

  3. After we’ve had a chat, I will send over my contract. My contracts are all online and super easy to fill out.

  4. You sign the contract and pay the booking fee.

  5. And that’s it! You have now booked your wedding videographer. I will be in touch a month before your wedding with my questionnaire and to arrange another call before the big day.

If you have any questions at all before then please feel free to send me an email at any time.

What is your style?

I like to describe my films as cinematic, natural and authentic to each individual couple.

I discreetly film all parts of your day. I won’t spend a lot of time posing you or telling you where to stand or what to do. I want you two to enjoy your wedding day as much as possible with your loved ones and I’ll be there in the background to capture the special moments.

What time do you start / end coverage on a wedding day?

I like to be with you in the morning for bridal / groom prep (if having both of you filmed in the morning is important to you I recommend choosing the option to book a second videographer, especially if you are getting ready at different venues). The exact start time will depend on your ceremony time and where you are getting ready but usually I aim to be with you from around 2-3 hours before your ceremony start time.

I will finish coverage about half an hour after the first dance. This gives me plenty of time to get lots of shots of your guests dancing and having fun in the evening.

If you are planning something special in the evening such as fireworks, I will stay later to capture that too. I want our films to reflect your day and everything that happens during it.

We are both really uncomfortable in front of a camera. Should we still book a videographer?

Some people worry that by booking a videographer (or two!) there will be too many people following them around with a camera all day.

I try my best to make you both feel as comfortable as possible on the day. I won’t make you do any awkward poses or anything too staged. I will guide you through the couples session but mostly I just want to get footage of you two together, walking, laughing and having fun.

I will always work with your photographer to make you feel as relaxed as possible and to not take you away from your guests for too long.

What is the ‘Instagramable Teaser Trailer’ and when can we expect this?

The Instagramable Teaser Trailer is a short (up to 1-minute) teaser, similar to photographers sending you ‘sneak peeks’. I will try to get this to you seven days after your wedding.

How soon after the wedding can we expect to receive our films?

The expected turnaround time for your finished films varies greatly depending on what time of year you are getting married. For spring weddings we expect a turnaround of no more than 4-6 weeks. If you are getting married in peak wedding season (July-October) you could expect to wait up to 12 weeks to receive your final films (although I try my best to have it back to you before then).

What if you are ill or injured on our wedding day?

I’ve filmed over 100+ weddings and have never been unable to attend a wedding ever. However, if something were to happen, either my wife Malin can step in or I am well connected with lots of videographers who I would trust to step in on the day. I won’t leave you without a great videographer!

Do we need to provide a meal for you?

A hot meal is always greatly appreciated but if it’s not within your budget, don’t worry! Just let me know, so that I can make sure to bring something (I ask about food in my pre-wedding questionnaire, so just let me know there).

Should we book a second videographer?

A second videographer means that I have a second set of hands to cover more ground and film more of your day. My wife Malin is my second videographer and we have filmed over 100 weddings together so we know how best to work with each other to get the best footage for you.

This means that for prep we can split up and be with both of you (if you both want coverage in the morning), and if you’re getting ready at the same venue as your ceremony, one of us can get lots of detail shots in the morning of your venue whilst one of us is always around for bridal (or groom) prep.

Malin will usually head to the ceremony room earlier to set up cameras, tripods and audio equipment, whilst James will stay to get the final footage of you getting ready.

During the ceremony, with two videographers we will always split up so that James is at the front of the ceremony room and Malin is at the back (unless any venue restrictions stop us from doing this, some churches don’t allow photographers and videographers at the front).

With two videographers we usually film your ceremony with 3-4 cameras. We’ll have two cameras at the back, one is a wide shot and one is a close up shot, and one camera at the front. James will also have a hand-held camera at the front to film you coming down the aisle.

After the ceremony, we will both be around to get plenty of shots of your guests mingling and having fun. Depending on how much time we have between the end of your ceremony and the wedding breakfast, we’ll either both come with you and your photographer for the couples session or we’ll split up and one of us can stay behind to get more footage of your guests mingling.

We’ll both be around for the rest of the day to make sure that nothing is missed. Together, we will be able to get footage from different angles of your first dance and anything else you may have planned for the evening.
